TruTV, formerly known as CourtTV, has canceled The Star Jones Show. The program, which debuted in August, will last air tomorrow. That's quick! Arrest and Trial will take over Jones' time slot. The cable channel will keep Star Jones Reynolds on as a contributing legal expert. Barbara Walters must be giggling over this.

Police Take Britney Spears From Home to Hospital
A massive effort coordinated between police and emergency services was used to get Britney Spears from her Studio City home to the UCLA Medical Center's Psychiatric Hospital early this morning.
A motorcade the size of a football field escorted Spears following a call to police from her psychologist. Britney is on a "mental evaluation hold" and will be held for at least three days.
Here is video of the incident, from the website www.hollywood.tv, via YouTube.

Oscar Prepares Second Show in Light of Strike
Producers of the Academy Awards show are making plans for a second show in case the writers strike is still ongoing come Oscar night.
A secondary show, featuring movie clips, history, and "out of the ordinary concepts" is being prepared in the event the show is picketed by striking writers.
If the strike is over by the time the telecast airs, the usual star studded event will take place.

Julian McMahon sizzles as Dr. Christian Troy on FX's hit Nip/Tuck. I've been a fan of his since he was on NBC's Profiler and then Charmed on the defunct WB network. No matter what role he is playing, it's hard to take your eyes off of Julian McMahon.

Just When You Thought it Was Safe...
They're back. The New Kids on the Block, or NKOTB as those in the know referred to them back in the late 80's, are staging a reunion. The former teen heartthrobs who's hits included "The Right Stuff" and... nothing else really... are expected to announce details of their comeback this week. Usually when a band reforms it's because the have legions of fans who miss them. I suspect in this case, the now middle age guys need to raise some cash to send their kids to college. Question of the day: Did you miss The New Kids on the Block?
Week in Review
The past week started off with Cymbi's fearless Oscar Predictions. Amazingly enough, when the smoke cleared on Tuesday she had actually predicted four out of five nominees in the six major categories. Tuesday ended on a sad note with the death of Heath Ledger and the media circus that ensued. The week ended with the death of Christian Brando and Barack Obama winning big in South Carolina. See you next week!

A Final Word on Heath Ledger
So much has been written and said about Heath Ledger and his death this past week that there isn't much left to say.
A daughter lost her father. Parents lost their son. A sister lost her brother. The film industry lost a gifted actor.
Sadly, most of the media coverage (including this website) focused on the tabloid aspects of the news. "Drug related!" "The Mary-Kate Olsen connection!" "Possible suicide!"
FOX News personality John Gibson actually mocked Mr. Ledger's passing when he first reported it on Tuesday. I won't go into the details of Gibson's comments because they are in poor taste, but the link is there for those who choose to listen. While all of the media weren't as extreme as John Gibson, many took the low road in reporting on the tragic death of a talented young man. I'll state on the record that we here at The Chronicles of von Klapp were no better. And for that, we are sorry.
There will be no more postings on this site about Heath Ledger or his passing unless it's newsworthy. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, and we apologize if in our haste to "get the news out" we were quick to focus on the sensationalism of the tragedy, as opposed to remembering the vast legacy Heath Ledger left behind.

Week in Review
After the non-event that was the Golden Globe Awards last Sunday, this past week started off with a judge denying Britney Spears' request to have her visitation rights restored. Do you blame him? Steve Jobs introduced the world to the MacBook Air while Hollywood said goodbye to actor Brad Renfro. Hillary Clinton and Mitt Romney won both the Michigan and Nevada primaries, while John McCain won the Republican primary in South Carolina. The South Carolina Democratic primary is this coming Saturday. American Idol returned to large ratings but was down from last year. Dr. Phil faced a complaint filed against him with the California Board of Psychology. Put that on your TV show and talk about it, Dr. Phil! And the biggest news of the week? The Chronicles of von Klapp is moving to a new website address tomorrow! Bookmark www.chroniclesofvonklapp.com
I'll be back next weekend. Cymbi will be back tomorrow with her Oscar predictions. Make sure to be here on Tuesday morning when Cymbi blogs LIVE with the Oscar nominations!

Changes, changes, changes
I'm blogging live from the Chronicles of von Klapp headquarters in Manhattan, also known as Cymbi's apartment. It's a scene of utter chaos as Cymbi and myself are making the transition to www.chroniclesofvonklapp.com. It's more than just an address change: Cymbi went through hundreds of logo designs until she finally approved of the one you see now. Cymbi promises that there will be lots of more fun changes coming soon. I have to give my sister credit - I didn't think anyone would read her little blog when she started it less than three months ago. And honestly, I still don't know why anyone does. But, she's happy and that's cute.
I'll be back tomorrow with my weekly "Week in Review."

Britney Spears Obituary
Me, A Slurpee, and Mr. Right
It happened last night. I was on my way home after an exhausting evening of buying shoes when I felt the need for a Slurpee. I stopped at the 7-11 on 3rd Avenue and proceeded to purchase said Slurpee when suddenly I heard, "Aren't you Basil von Klapp's daughter?"
I spun around and there he was: Mr. Right! Yes! The same Mr. Right that I met at my family's annual Holiday Party and the same Mr. Right that I saw getting into a cab on 5th Avenue last month. Actually, it was exactly a month to day from the time I saw him getting into the cab until I saw him last night.
I replied, "Yes, who are you?" in an effort to be coy and, most of all, to find out his name! Just then, his cell phone rang. His face was more serious as he looked at the caller ID, and he said "I'll be right back."
And then he left! And he didn't come back! I stayed in the 7-11 for an hour and consumed three Slurpees, but he never came back.
Worst of all: I still don't know his name.

Dr. Phil: Practicing without a License?
An official complaint has been filed with the California Board of Psychology again Dr. Phil McGraw for practicing without a license when he visited Britney Spears while she was hospitalized earlier this month. The complaint goes on to claim that McGraw violated doctor/patient privilege by discussing Spears' case with the media. Dr. Phil isn't licensed to practice in the state of California.
American Idol: Meet Temptress Brown
Meet Temptress Brown. Yes, thats Temptress, not Tempest. She's 16 and a linebacker for a high school football team. She wants to be the next American Idol so she can help her sick (read: morbidly obese) mother. When they ask her what song she's going to sing, Temptress replies "I'm Not Goin Nowhere by Jennifer Hudson" (read: "And I Am Telling You"). She didn't make it to Hollywood, but I have a feeling Temptress and her family will make an appearance on the season finale of American Idol.

New Boyfriend Wednesday
Justin Timberlake. He's been a boy band member, a paramour of a pre-insane Britney Spears, a Grammy winner, one of the funniest Saturday Night Live hosts in recent memory, and an up-and-coming actor. All that and he's not even thirty yet. In fact, he's the same age as me. What a perfect match!

Brad Renfro Dead at 25
Actor Brad Renfro was found dead in his home in LA today. The coroner has not released the cause of death. He was 25 years old. Renfro got his start at age ten in the movie "The Client." He went on to star in "Tom and Huck" and "Ghost World." Renfro was busted trying to buy heroin in LA's skid row in 2005.
